Hi, nice to meet you. I can help you with translating knowledge into visuals.

My name is Susanne Landis

I was born in Brazil, Sao Paulo. At the age of 6 I moved to Seoul, South Korea where I spend 3 years, before moving to Basel, Switzerland. There I grew up and finished high school.

In 2007 I received my diploma as environmental scientist from the ETH Zürich. It has always been important to me not only to acquire knowledge, but also to be able to pass it on in a comprehensible and visual way. That's why, after my diploma studies, I applied and studied for two semesters at the Lucerne School of Art.

From 2009 to 2014 I did my PhD at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel. I used the unique conditions of the Baltic Sea to investigate host-parasite interactions between a pipefish and two very common fish parasites in the context of climate warming.

Today I now combine my two passions - science and illustration - and work as a freelance science illustrator, amongst other things. My strength lies in the quick understanding of complex scientific information and in the translation of this information into comprehensible visuals. I can support you with graphical abstracts, science illustrations but also with overviews figures and graphical support for your next funding application!
